Dogs on a box: a photo project from 2017 to 2019

When I arrived from Germany and started exploring San Francisco, I felt right at home when I realized this is such a dog-friendly city.

I love to sit in the freshly mown grass in Dolores Park and watch the dogs all play. I came up with the idea to photograph dogs at some of my favorite places in San Francisco. And because every dog is a star, I let them pose on a special wooden box.

It’s fascinating how differently the dog owners dealt with the task to put their dog on the box and I really have to say it is a challenge. Surprisingly, some dogs just jumped on the box like they doing it every day, some needed treats or good words. But in the end, every dog managed to get photographed. I want to say thank you to all dog owners for being so patient and of course many thanks to all the wonderful furry models.
